CIMB Bank Berhad announced on March 8 that it is organizing CIMB OCTOFest, a series of events during the Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri period aimed at supporting micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), rewarding customers, and uplifting underserved communities.
The initiative seeks to bring together commerce, community, and culture through curated experiences. According to the bank, CIMB OCTOFest is designed to help MSMEs accelerate digital payment adoption while also providing meaningful festive offerings for customers.
Toni Darusman, Group Chief Brand and Marketing Officer of CIMB, said, “Ramadan and Hari Raya Aidilfitri are a time of connection, compassion and togetherness – one of the most important periods for both families and businesses. With CIMB OCTOFest, our goal is simple, to bring people together, share blessings, and celebrate the spirit of the season. That is why our theme this year, Semua Lebih Hebat dengan CIMB, highlights how every moment becomes more meaningful when we experience it together. In today’s evolving landscape, traditions can sometimes be overlooked and seen as inconvenient. CIMB upholds these traditions that are synonymous with our community, making Ramadan–Raya celebrations more rewarding, seamless and impactful. Guided by our Kita Bagi Jadi spirit, we are helping traditions thrive by ensuring they remain relevant and accessible. We are also creating real economic opportunities for MSMEs while delivering meaningful value to our customers as they prepare for Hari Raya. From digital enablement and exclusive festive deals to community outreach, CIMB is here to make what truly matters a Big Deal.”
A key highlight of the festival is a three-day event held in collaboration with KL Foodie from March 6 to 8 at MyTOWN Shopping Centre in Kuala Lumpur. The event features over 50 local vendors along with cultural showcases and live performances. Additional activities have taken place at Ramadan bazaars in TTDI and Bangsar.
Visitors can participate in various activities such as sampling festive delicacies from Malaysia, Indonesia, and Singapore at ‘Rumah ASEAN’, joining batik tie-dye workshops at ‘Rumah Riang CIMB’, enjoying live performances by artists including Bella Astillah as well as Scha Nuril and Firdaus from CIMB’s Rising Start program. Other attractions include traditional games like the Big Congkak Challenge and Giant Batu Seremban court; Karaoke Raya; duit raya giveaways; special Teh Tarik shows; bubur lambuk distributions; workshops; challenges; appearances by brand partners Ervin Chang (professional golfer) and Amer Harris Jefry (motorsports athlete); plus social media influencers Pinn Yang and Mad Noor.
CIMB has set up engagement touchpoints offering digital payment solutions using QR codes via its platforms OCTO and OCTO Biz. Customers who use QR payments receive special merchandise while entrepreneurs benefit from improved transaction efficiency during the festive period.
