Daimler Truck, Mitsubishi Fuso, Hino Motors, and Toyota Motor Corporation have finalized agreements to integrate Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors. The companies aim to create a new Japanese truck powerhouse with over 40,000 employees. The collaboration intends to enhance the commercial vehicle landscape in the Asia-Pacific region and beyond.
The new holding company is expected to start operations in April 2026. Daimler Truck and Toyota each plan to own 25% of this listed holding company, which will own 100% of Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino. Karl Deppen is set to be the CEO of the holding company, headquartered in Tokyo.
Further details about the collaboration will be announced in the coming months as approvals from relevant boards, shareholders, and authorities are pending.
The integration aims to improve business efficiency in development, procurement, and production while enhancing competitiveness among Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturers. The companies hope to contribute positively by addressing issues like carbon neutrality and logistics efficiency through developing CASE technologies.
