Daimler Truck, Mitsubishi Fuso, Hino Motors, and Toyota Motor Corporation have finalized agreements to integrate Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino on equal terms. This integration aims to create a robust Japanese truck entity, benefiting all stakeholders involved. The new company will employ over 40,000 people and is expected to shape the future of commercial vehicles in the Asia-Pacific region.

The collaboration details indicate that Daimler Truck and Toyota will each aim to own 25% of the holding company for the integrated Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino. The new entity plans to commence operations in April 2026 with its headquarters in Tokyo, Japan. Karl Deppen has been named as the CEO of this holding company.

Further announcements regarding the name of the new holding company and additional collaboration details are anticipated in the coming months. Approval from relevant boards, shareholders, and authorities is still required for the deal to proceed.

The companies emphasize that commercial vehicles play a crucial role in daily life by moving people and goods, thus acting as “social infrastructure.” By integrating Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors, they aim to improve efficiency in development, procurement, and production while enhancing competitiveness among Japanese commercial vehicle manufacturers.

Karl Deppen expressed enthusiasm about leading the new company: “Today is a great day for all our stakeholders…I feel honored and excited to be the designated leader of the new company.”

Satoshi Ogiso noted that this collaboration presents a unique opportunity: “The collaboration of these four companies is truly a ‘once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.'”

Karin Rådström described it as historic: “The now decided integration of Mitsubishi Fuso and Hino Motors is truly historic.”

Koji Sato emphasized ongoing efforts toward sustainable mobility: “Today’s final agreement is not the goal but the starting line.”

This initiative aligns with broader goals such as carbon neutrality and logistics efficiency while striving for advancements through CASE technologies (Connected, Autonomous, Shared, Electric), including hydrogen solutions.
