Eleven individuals and companies were honored at the 2025 Sustainability Impact Awards for their efforts in advancing sustainable development and innovation. The awards, now in their third year, are jointly organized by The Business Times and United Overseas Bank (UOB). The ceremony took place at Pan Pacific Orchard with Mr Chee Hong Tat, Minister for National Development, as Guest-of-Honour.

The event recognizes leaders in Singapore who have made significant contributions to sustainability. Keppel Ltd received the Impact Enterprise of the Year award in the Large Enterprise category for its focus on climate change and renewable energy, including projects like clean energy imports and developing Singapore’s first hydrogen-compatible power plant. Four other large enterprises—ComfortDelGro Corporation Limited, FairPrice Group, The Ascott Limited, and UOL Group-Pan Pacific Hotels Group—were also recognized for their sustainability initiatives.

In the Small and Medium Enterprise category, Pollen Tech and WeavInsight Pte Ltd were awarded for their work in reducing waste and promoting energy efficiency. Pollen Tech operates Asia’s first system for liquidating excess inventory to achieve zero waste, while WeavInsight has helped reduce energy use in buildings to support sustainable financing.

Two individuals were named Impact Leaders of the Year: Bjorn Low, Co-Founder of Edible Garden City, recognized for his leadership in urban agriculture; and Professor Lily Kong from Singapore Management University (SMU), acknowledged for her role in advancing sustainability education and establishing key research centers.

The Individual Excellence Award went to Ms Beh Siew Kim of CapitaLand Investment/The Ascott Limited and Mr Jeremy Lee of SimplyGood.

Chen Huifen, Editor of The Business Times, stated: “The Sustainability Impact Awards reflect The Business Times’ commitment to recognise individuals and businesses that are not only driving economic value, but also advancing sustainability and contributing significantly to environmental and societal well-being. This year, we also introduced the Sustainability Impact Dialogue to discuss trends, learn from one another and bring people together. We hope that these efforts will collectively help to inspire individuals and enterprises to take bold, meaningful steps towards a more responsible and resilient future.”

Wee Ee Cheong, Deputy Chairman and CEO of UOB, said: “UOB is committed to building a sustainable future by doing right by our customers and communities. We support our customers on their sustainability journey with sector-specific solutions and partner with like-minded leaders driving lasting impact. The Sustainability Impact Awards celebrate the companies and individuals who have made meaningful contributions and we congratulate the winners for leading the way forward.”

The Centre for Governance and Sustainability at National University of Singapore Business School served as Knowledge Partner for this year’s awards.
