Tencent has announced the global launch of its Hunyuan 3D creation engine, aiming to provide creators worldwide with advanced AI-powered 3D modeling tools. The platform allows users to generate commercial-grade 3D assets using various inputs such as text descriptions, images, or sketches. According to Tencent, this technology reduces production time from days or weeks to just minutes and simplifies traditional workflows.

Tencent Cloud has also made the Hunyuan 3D Model API available internationally for enterprises. This enables companies to integrate advanced 3D generation capabilities into their existing processes, supporting applications in game development, e-commerce promotion, special effects for film, advertising, social media content creation, and 3D printing.

Users of Tencent Hunyuan 3D Global will have access to 20 free generations daily. Enterprise users connecting through the API are provided with 200 free credits for generating 3D assets.

Tencent stated: “With this release, users can instantly generate high-quality 3D assets from multimodal inputs such as text descriptions, images, or sketches (Refer to Appendix). This cuts production time from days or weeks to just minutes, eliminating the complexity of traditional workflows.”

The company described its Hunyuan 3D large model as a leading generative AI tool for text-to-image, video, and 3D asset creation. Since several open-sourced models were released in November 2024, downloads on Hugging Face have exceeded three million. The series has undergone multiple updates aimed at improving quality and accuracy. The latest version focuses on producing high-quality object assets and constructing interactive environments for gaming and digital content creation.

Tencent noted: “Since the release of several open-sourced 3D models in November 2024, it has surpassed 3 million community downloads on Hugging Face, earning recognition as one of the world’s most popular 3D open-source models among developers, creators and the open-sourced community globally.”

More than 150 enterprises in Mainland China have already integrated the Hunyuan 3D Model via Tencent Cloud. Notable adopters include Unity China (a real-time engine company), Bambu Lab (a consumer-grade 3D printing firm), and Liblib (an AI content creation platform).

The international version of Hunyuan 3D supports mainstream formats like OBJ and GLB and is compatible with professional software such as Unity, Unreal Engine, and Blender. It offers editing features that allow generated assets to be used directly in projects.

The platform supports multiple input methods:
– Text-to-3D: Generates models from written descriptions.
– Image-to-3D: Creates accurate models using up to four images.
– Sketch-to-3D: Converts sketches into detailed models with added attributes.
– Smart Topology: Optimizes mesh topology for efficient rendering according to industry standards.
