Tencent has introduced TenPay Global Checkout, a new payment solution designed for Weixin Mini Program merchants operating outside mainland China. The service allows these merchants to accept various local payment methods through a single integration.

The initial rollout is taking place in Singapore and Macao SAR. Merchants in these regions can now accept payments via credit and debit cards, PayNow, and BOCPAY(MO) on the Weixin Official Accounts Platform using TenPay Global Checkout. Tencent plans to expand this service to additional markets such as Japan, Australia, and New Zealand in the future.

Weixin Mini Programs are small applications within Weixin that allow users to shop, pay, and access services without downloading separate apps. According to Tencent, there are over 1 million monthly active users of Weixin Mini Programs in markets including Singapore, Japan, Australia, and New Zealand. These services are currently available across 92 countries and regions.

Wenhui Yang, CEO of TenPay Global (Singapore), stated: “TenPay Global Checkout marks an important step in enhancing the local consumer experience. By enabling overseas Weixin Mini Program merchants to accept trusted and diversified local payment methods through one unified solution, users benefit from a more convenient and efficient payment experience. This helps merchants improve payment conversion rates, expand their user base, and scale their businesses to serve a broader range of customers.”

Tencent emphasized its commitment to providing secure and user-focused payment experiences for both merchants and consumers worldwide.
