Toyota Motor Corporation (TMC) has announced significant changes to its board of directors, executive structure, and senior management. These updates were made during the ordinary general shareholders’ meeting held on June 12, 2025, in Toyota City, Japan. The new appointments and structural changes will take effect on July 1, 2025.
Akio Toyoda has been appointed as Chairman of the Board of Directors. Koji Sato will serve as President and Member of the Board of Directors. Hiroki Nakajima and Yoichi Miyazaki have both been named Executive Vice Presidents and Members of the Board of Directors.
Shigeaki Okamoto and Kumi Fujisawa have joined as outside/independent members of the board. Additionally, George Olcott has been appointed as a member serving on the Audit and Supervisory Committee.
Changes in responsibilities for executives include Koji Sato assuming the role of Chief Executive Officer while retaining his position as President. Hiroki Nakajima continues as Chief Technology Officer alongside his duties as Executive Vice President. Yoichi Miyazaki transitions to Chief Competitive Officer.
The company’s operating officers have also seen adjustments in their roles. Tetsuo Ogawa remains focused on North America operations, while Tatsuro Ueda continues to oversee activities in China.
