Toyota Motor Corporation announced on Feb. 25 the launch of its new bZ4X Touring battery electric vehicle (BEV) in Japan. The model builds upon the original bZ4X, aiming to deliver strong acceleration, off-road capability, and a spacious interior designed for family leisure activities and outdoor adventures.

The introduction of the bZ4X Touring reflects Toyota’s response to customer feedback seeking greater utility in BEVs for active lifestyles. The vehicle offers approximately 1.4 times more luggage space than its predecessor and features equipment tailored for outdoor use. It is designed to accommodate up to four 9.5-inch golf bags and provides a large cargo area with flexible seating arrangements.

According to Toyota, the bZ4X Touring achieves a class-leading cruising range of 734 kilometers per charge under WLTC mode for the Z grade front-wheel drive model. Rapid charging capabilities allow the battery to reach approximately 80% capacity in about 28 minutes even at temperatures as low as -10°C. The four-wheel drive version accelerates from zero to 100 kilometers per hour in just 4.5 seconds and comes equipped with X-MODE technology for enhanced stability on rough terrain.

Safety features include Toyota Safety Sense as standard, integrating proactive driving assist functions such as deceleration and steering support, pre-collision braking, Advanced Drive for traffic congestion support, and Advanced Park with remote functionality. The vehicle also incorporates a streamlined exterior design with practical elements like roof rails and skid plates, while offering five body color options including two-tone combinations.

The bZ4X Touring will be available through traditional sales channels as well as via KINTO car subscription service starting around April, with monthly fees beginning at 77,440 yen for the Z grade front-wheel drive package under a seven-year lease plan. Production will take place at Subaru Corporation’s Yajima Plant.

Toyota stated that it remains committed to developing powertrains aimed at achieving carbon neutrality and expanding mobility solutions tailored to diverse customer needs worldwide.
