Toyota Motor Corporation has announced that it will participate in Round 6 of the ENEOS Super Taikyu Series 2025 Empowered by BRIDGESTONE at Okayama International Circuit from October 25 to 26. The company will enter the #32 TGRR GR Yaris M concept, which was first introduced at the Tokyo Auto Salon 2025.
The GR Yaris M concept was developed to address the challenges faced by front-engine vehicles like the GR Yaris, which place most of the load on the front tires during braking, steering, and acceleration. This setup can cause significant tire wear and a tendency for understeer during high-speed cornering due to reduced grip.
To address these issues, the development team, led by Morizo, re-examined the car’s structure and weight distribution through participation in the Super Taikyu Series. The GR Yaris M concept now features a midship 4WD layout, with the engine and transmission moved behind the driver’s seat. The name “M concept” comes from “midship” and “Morizo.”
The car is powered by the G20E engine, a compact and high-output unit first revealed at the Multipathway Workshop in May 2024. This engine is part of Toyota’s ongoing efforts to explore new possibilities for internal combustion engines in motorsports.
The team faced challenges with braking, steering, and handling inherent to a mid-engine layout, which prevented them from participating in the previous Autopolis race. Over three months, drivers, engineers, and mechanics collaborated to test and improve the engine, body, and chassis. Toyota says it is now prepared to compete at Okayama, and plans to use racing experience and feedback to continue developing motorsports-bred vehicles.
Toyota also emphasized its broader environmental and social goals. “Achieving zero, and adding new value beyond it,” the company stated, explaining its commitment to reducing negative impacts on people and the environment to zero, while seeking ways to improve lives and society for the future.
