Toyota Motor Corporation has introduced the bZ4X Touring, a new battery electric vehicle (BEV) designed to enhance driving performance and offer increased interior space. The model was launched in Japan on February 25, 2026.

The bZ4X Touring builds on the features of the original bZ4X, focusing on strong acceleration, off-road capability, and an extended cruising range. Toyota states that customer feedback influenced the development process, revealing a demand for BEVs with greater utility to support family activities such as outdoor adventures.

According to Toyota, the new model offers about 1.4 times more luggage space than its predecessor and is equipped with features intended for outdoor use. It achieves a cruising range of up to 734 kilometers per charge under WLTC mode and can be rapidly charged from 10% to 80% capacity in approximately 28 minutes at -10°C using a 150kW charger. The four-wheel-drive version accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in 4.6 seconds and includes X-MODE as standard equipment for improved handling in various conditions.

Pricing for the bZ4X Touring starts at 5,750,000 yen for the front-wheel-drive version and 6,400,000 yen for the four-wheel-drive variant. The vehicle measures 4,830 mm in length, 1,860 mm in width, and 1,675 mm in height with a wheelbase of 2,850 mm. It provides a luggage compartment that can accommodate up to four golf bags and offers features such as foldable rear seats and multiple hooks for securing items.

The vehicle is powered by high-output eAxles both front and rear in the four-wheel-drive model, delivering a maximum system output of 280kW with a lithium-ion battery capacity of approximately 74.69kWh. Toyota highlights improvements in aerodynamic design and efficiency through components like SiC power semiconductors.

For charging convenience at home or on the road, Toyota provides options such as a standard dealer-offered charger and access to its TEEMO charging service network across Japan. The TEEMO service allows users to search for chargers via smartphone app without a monthly base fee; rapid chargers are available at Toyota dealerships and select Lexus locations (https://toyota.jp/info/e-toyota/teemo/).

Safety features include Toyota Safety Sense as standard equipment. This package integrates Proactive Driving Assist along with functions like pre-collision braking. Additional technologies include Advanced Drive (for traffic congestion support) and Advanced Park (with remote operation), both part of Toyota Teammate’s suite of driver assistance systems.

Design elements include black LED rear combination lamps stretching across the hatch door, black aluminum wheels (20-inch), roof rails, skid plates, and five body color options—three monotone colors plus two two-tone combinations including Brilliant Bronze Metallic with Crystal Black Silica roof.

Interior features consist of an open horizontal instrument panel design with wood grain-patterned trim visible from the driver’s seat. A stand-alone 14-inch center display consolidates navigation and multimedia controls within an accessible tray-shaped console that supports wireless device charging.

The bZ4X Touring will also be available through KINTO’s car subscription service starting around April; pricing begins at 77,440 yen per month under certain lease conditions.

Production takes place at Subaru Corporation’s Yajima Plant.

“Achieving zero, and adding new value beyond it,” said Toyota regarding its ongoing efforts toward carbon neutrality while providing mobility solutions tailored to diverse customer needs worldwide.
