The Travel Alliance, a coalition of major mobile operators in the Asia-Pacific region including Singtel, AIS, Taiwan Mobile, GOMO Philippines, KDDI, Telkomsel, Optus and HKT, has announced the launch of WanderJoy. This initiative is described as the world’s first cross-border rewards programme by telecommunications companies. The announcement was made at the KDDI SUMMIT 2025 in Tokyo.

WanderJoy aims to address challenges faced by travelers in the region such as fragmented rewards systems and language barriers. The platform offers a single access point for various travel privileges and rewards across entertainment, dining, wellness, and more. It is available through participating telcos’ apps including myAIS app, The Club (HKT), KDDI au Unlimited Data Overseas app, GOMO PH app, My Singtel app, Taiwan Mobile app and MyTelkomsel.

Ms Anna Yip, CEO of International Digital Services at Singtel and Chairperson of the Travel Alliance stated: “The Travel Alliance members are moving beyond connectivity to becoming travel enablers — giving our customers a window into new experiences and making their trips smoother and more memorable. As more people rely on their phones to plan, book and navigate their journeys, we’re evolving with them, using data and partnerships to guide, delight and inspire. With WanderJoy, Alliance customers get to enjoy unique and exclusive offers — from family-friendly attractions and gourmet experiences to wellness escapes and adventure tours. We’re elevating their travel experiences, delivering what matters to them at every touchpoint.”

She also said: “The launch also highlights the power of industry collaboration in shaping the future of travel and redefining what it means to be a telco and how we engage our customers abroad. By connecting telco data insights with partner networks in hospitality, retail, and transport, we’re creating opportunities for cross-industry innovation and growth. We will continue to add more partners to this ecosystem to benefit more travellers from our customer base globally.”

According to Mr Toshiro Akiyama of KDDI Corporation: “We are excited to officially launch WanderJoy in Japan and bring new value to our customers through the Travel Alliance. For Japanese travellers, mobile connectivity has long been essential —but now it becomes a true gateway to richer, more seamless travel experiences. With WanderJoy, we can connect people not only to reliable networks but also to unique moments of joy, discovery, and connection wherever they go. KDDI has always sought to enhance everyday life through technology and partnerships. By collaborating with our Alliance members we aim to create an ecosystem that goes beyond telecommunications supporting travellers with simpler and more rewarding journeys across the Asia-Pacific.”

Mr Pratthana Leelapanang from AIS commented: “To elevate the best possible experience for customers in accessing privileges abroad and to overcome limitations such as language barriers and fragmented rewards systems WanderJoy was developed to meet the needs of modern travelers who seek convenience value and confidence when using mobile services overseas — whether in Thailand Singapore Japan Hong Kong Taiwan the Philippines Indonesia or Australia. The platform brings together all travel privileges in one place accessible via a single app — the same platform already used by AIS customers… Through collaboration within the Travel Alliance… Together we’re elevating service standards across both technology and lifestyle dimensions — ensuring that our roaming… services go beyond seamless connectivity…”

GOMO Philippines’ Head Mr Dom Brucal said: “GOMO’s all about giving customers the freedom to do more – no hassles no limits. With WanderJoy we’re taking that mindset global…”

Ms Monita Leung from HKT added: “Leveraging HKT’s diverse business portfolio our loyalty platform The Club is dedicated… With the launch of WanderJoy we are broadening our ecosystem… offering HKT customers convenient travel perks when they visit these destinations…”

Mr Tony Lin from Taiwan Mobile noted: “WanderJoy shows how leading telcos are turning connectivity into meaningful cross-border experiences…”

Mr Derrick Heng from Telkomsel remarked: “By leveraging trusted networks… More than a rewards platform WanderJoy empowers travelers with seamless borderless lifestyle experiences across Asia-Pacific…”

Since its soft launch in June 2025 as an online platform WanderJoy has expanded its offerings through new partnerships with companies such as Dragonpass (airport lounge access), Estée Lauder (duty-free exclusives), Grab (discounted rides/food delivery), KKday (tour discounts), Omio (regional transport bookings) and Trip.com (hotel/flight savings). These collaborations provide benefits like discounted airport lounge access worldwide; exclusive beauty gifts at airports; up to S$120 off Grab services; up to 15% off curated tours via KKday; up to 50% off bus/ferry/train rides booked through Omio; plus hotel/flight discounts on Trip.com.

Travelers can redeem these offers directly within their respective telco apps without needing separate sign-ins or registrations.
